Mt. Moon is a mountain located in North Kanto. It is the first location for players who began in Kanto to obtain a Rock or Ground Type Pokémon. Players may choose to bypass Mt. Moon by paying the NPCs near the entrances PokémonDollar.png2,500 to get them to the opposite exit's Pokémon Center; if coming from the East Side of the cave, players will be teleported to the front of the West sides Pokémon Center, while if coming from the West side of the cave, players will be teleported to Cerulean City's Pokémon Center. There is also a quest to be done in Mt. Moon, the Mt. Moon's Hidden Children's Quest which rewards players with PokémonDollar.png15,000 as well as 3 Escape Ropes.

Mt. Moon is also noted for being one of two locations in Kanto (the other being the Celadon City Department Store) that sells Moon Stones, for PokémonDollar.png10,000 apiece.

In the northeasternmost region of the ground floor, an NPC vendor will sell Moon Stones for PokémonDollar.png10,000 each.
