While playing the game, you may experience issues with the client. This page has solutions to solve known problems. If you have a problem, that doesn't have a solution on this page or around the wiki, then search the Forums or report it on our Tracker.

Black and White Screen
When logging into the client you may find that most of your client is white boxes instead of looking how it should. This means that your client files are likely corrupt and will need replacing. You can download a zip folder with the files you need to replace here. From your PWO GFX folder (Usually can be found in My Computer -> C: -> Program files -> Pokemon World Online -> Skin -> Default), you need to delete the current ones and then move the ones from the downloaded folder to there.
The folder should contain the following files:
- black.dat
- font.dat
- font2.dat
- font3.dat
- light.dat
- White.dat
Client is already running
Sometimes you may find that your client just randomly closes on you and when you try to reopen it, it claims that the client is still running in the background. This is usually due to the main process that runs in the background, is still running while the client itself is closed. This can be resolved by either using CTRL+ALT+DEL on your keyboard and choosing Task Manager from there or right-clicking your task bar and choosing Task Manager from there. Once in that window, choose processes and look for PWO.exe. You will then click End Process and you should now be able to run the client.
Please note ending the wrong process, could result in problems.
Client keeps closing after leaving the game
This is a common issue when using Vista or Win7. To fix it you just need to restart your pc user.
Client out of date
You need to run the pwoUpdater. The Updater can be found in your Pokemon World Online folder (usually located in C: -> Program Files).
MSVBVM60.DLL
Get an error message similar to the following - "A required DLL file MSVBVM60.DLL was not found.". If you do then try this file and hopefully you should be able to run the game.
No sound
If you are still not hearing any sounds coming from the client even though the client isn't on mute, then you need to edit your options.ini file. To do this go to your Pokémon world online files folder (usually located in C:/Program files/Pokemon World Online/Files). Once there, open up your options files. You'll probably see the following text.
[Game]
Weather=1
Shadow=1
Volume=0
Sound=0
Follow=1
Remember_Pass=0
Username=
Password=
Change both Sound and Volume over 1. Then go and save it. You should now be able to hear the music in-game. If you get the error 'Access is denied' while saving then you need to change your user settings. To do this just right click on the options.ini file and then click on properties. Once the properties window opens, you need to click on the Security tab and then select your group. Once you selected your group, click on edit (you will likely require to login as administrator to change the following settings on Vista and Win7). You can then check the box by Full Control, click on 'Apply' and then 'Apply' for the properties, you should then be able to edit and save the file.
If this solution doesn't fix the issue, it could be that you are missing the required codec. Check that you have Windows Media Player installed, and if you don't, get it from here.
Permanent NPC Text
Sometimes when talking to NPCs, the NPC text will remain on the screen. This may eventually freeze your client. If this occurs, the first step is to log out of the game and then log back in. If the text has not been removed, you will need to log out again. This time, run the pwoUpdater found in the Pokemon World Online folder. If the updater gives you an error, simply click Ignore. After running the updater, log back onto the game and the text should have disappeared.
