The Random Battle Tournament is an official tournament event announced by PWO Staff on the 17th of May, 2022. The single-elimination bracket tournament consists of 5 rounds and 28 hopeful trainers. In Random Battles, both trainers must battle with a randomly generated set of Pokémon. The Pokémon themselves will have random abilities, movesets, and natures (within their available pool). Furthermore, each Pokémon have predetermined levels ranging from 70 to 100 as adjusted by Staff to "level" the playing field, e.g. Rayquaza lvl. 70 and Shedinja lvl. 100.

We are pleased to announce an official staff run tournament! It focuses on generation 1 Pokémon only. Registration ends on 28/Jan/23 at 23:59 UTC. Battles start 04/Feb/23 23:59 UTC

Below are the rules of the Tournament. Please take care to read through all the rules in place.

Rules

If you suspect your opponent of ‘foul play’, we will primarily be looking at video evidence.' It is advised to record your battles, such that it’s fair for everyone involved.

Each round will be 5 days. Avoiding battles will result in an automatic loss. ‘Avoiding’ includes and is not limited to: Refusing a battle when you are online and your opponent asks to battle OR not showing up to a pre-arranged battle time. Don't forget to utilise the battle channel in Discord to help organise.

1. Only Generation 1 Pokémon allowed." (National #1-#151)

2. Each round is best-of-3. Single elimination bracket.

3. Species Clause: Each Pokémon on a player's team must have a different Pokédex number. For example: using a team with two Koffing would break this clause."

4. Item Clause: Each Pokémon on a player's team must be holding different items at the start of the battle.

5. Sleep Clause: Each player can only have one Pokémon asleep at a time. (Pokémon that are put to sleep due to Rest or Sleep Talk do not count).

6. Evasion Clause: Double Team, Minimize, Acupressure and Sand Veil are not allowed.

7. OHKO Clause: Fissure, Horn Drill, Guillotine, and Sheer Cold are not allowed.

8. HP/Status Modification Clause: May not modify the health/status of a Pokémon before the start of the battle. All Pokemon must be fully-healed and free of any status conditions."

9. Baton Pass is not allowed.

10. Only enter with one (main) account.

11. Only Pokémon that are level 100 can be used.
