Non-Player Character [NPC] Battles are a pivitol point of Pokemon World Online. Each Defeated NPC earns a .2 reputation increase, as well as valuable experience for your Pokemon.

Interesting to note is that even after you defeat an NPC, you can battle them again. There is a two week waiting period, but over that time, their Pokemon grow stronger. You can check which trainers are ready for a rematch in the Playerdex under "My Phonebook". You must be logged into the Playerdex to do this.

Now, actual NPC battling is almost the same as battling a wild Pokemon. First, you find your NPC. Second, but optional, stalk him. Don't let him know you're there. Make those "Jaws"-esque noises and revel in the moment as you pounce! As in, hit the space bar. This will bring up their challenge message.

Well, what he doesn't realize is that it's his loss. After you space past this challenge (and wait for the actual server to catch up) both of you send out your first Pokemon.

It's about this point that I'd like to say types are for little girls. There's an obvious winner here, and he's got twice as many arms as that loser Abra! (Take that, over-used scum!)

In any case, carry on the battle as you normally would. The oppenent will continue to send out Pokemon until he runs out. Remember to be careful with the space button during a battle as well. It sucks hard when you accidentally hit "Run" and lose a turn because of it. But anyway... after a while, you should have whitteld down at their heath. Awesome for you. Their last Pokemon will fall, and you'll get an anti-climactic "You have won the battle." Message and a little exp for your efforts. Wasn't that all worth it?

And yes, just to screw with you all, I defeated a Pikachu with a Gyarados! Take that game mechanics!
