History

When the game had first launched back in December 27, 2007 - it was created and worked on by Kyro, alongside with childhood friend Zammbi. With the first beta release in early January 2008, the team saw their online game prosper. Within the first year, the game was getting nearly 500 connections per day. By the end of the second year, that number doubled. In the later stages of Pokemon World Online - Kyro had left in order to focus on his other projects including Pokemon Battle Arena and Monster Ranch. Zammbi had taken over as project manager.

Following a C&D order, on 23rd April it was announced that Pokemon World Online will start up once again alongside CodeCore Entertainment.

On July 18th, 2011, newly appointed PWO developer Zidonuke began the deletion of PWO's data and serverside coding. Having held the position since July 14th, 2011, Zidonuke was faced with great criticism and opposition to his projects; most of which was generated in the IRC chat. In an attempt to put a stop to the rumors and ill-natured comments toward his work, Zidonuke targeted the chat, and banned all users in it, including members, PWO staff, and known banned members. Zido proposed a policy to ban on any discussion of the IRC on the PWO forums and in game, threatening any and all users with a ban. This was met with much opposition, and subsequently, Zidonuke deleted the proclamation, and was eventually banned from the IRC chat. This would not mark the end of his anger, however, for he would move on to begin the deletion of PWO's coding and forums, eventually leading to publish some online in order to get back at the community that shamed him. As of July 19th, 2011 DEV Xanatus is working on getting a backup of the game, to hopefully bring it back up from the ashes once more.
