Pokemon Hunters

Throughout the history of Pokemon World Online it was always difficult to capture a pokemon low level, when our team consisted of Pokemon with high lvl, especially when they are high tier or even shiny ones. Because of this players they decided to use pokemons trained in this type of capture and while avoiding the waste of pokeballs trying to capture one without faint. This guide will give you a sample of pokemon hunters, what moves should go for this, pros & cons and how to get one of the best pokemon hunters: Smeargle and one of his best move-set for this.

To capture a pokemon should take this factors:

  • The Catch Rate of pokemon (being the hardest requires more support to be captured)
  • The HP (The less life be better, being that if red is optimal)
  • The type of Poké Ball (There are different types of quality, Ultra Ball being in most cases the best)
  • Any Status Effects you use (Different ways to affect being to freeze or sleep is best)

Avoid faint the pokemon

Don't use moves Super effective or with a high chance of a Critical hit with the pokemon you are trying to catch, this will faint the pokemon and make impossible catch it. For this use the move "False swipe" inflicts damage, but will leave the target with 1 HP.

Pokemons who learn False Swipe for Lvl or Breeding (Egg move) and are obtainable.

Use Status Moves or Status Effects to make it easily

Use status moves or status effects to prevent the pokemon run away or be more difficult to capture

Pokemon Hunters using two or more moves to catch a pokemon

  • Gengar(Hypnosis and Mean lock)
  1. Pros: Tier 1, Used to catch Abras, Can be used on battles
  2. Cons: Hypnosis can fail, you can't switch to another pokemon if you use mean lock
  • Parasect(Spore,False swipe,Giga Drain,X-Scissor)
  1. Pros: Tier 1, Used to catch almost all pokemons,Can be used on Npcs battles with X-Scissor, Giga Drain heal yourself, Effect Spore (ability) Contact may cause paralysis or sleep the pokemon
  2. Cons: Effect Spore (ability) contact may poison the objetive when you already use false swipe on the pokemon and faint it (i recomend only use spore for high tier)
  • Gallade (Hypnosis and mean lock {learn with Kirlia}, False swipe)
  1. Pros: Can be used on Npcs battles, High base stats.
  2. Cons: Hypnosis can fail, Uncatchable rarity, only male Kirlia can evolve into Gallade.
  • Smeargle (Spore,False Swipe,Soak,Mean lock)
  1. Pros: Can learn every move available on the game,Own Tempo (ability) prevents the Pokémon from becoming confused, can be used to catch all wild pokemons(soak for ghost type and mean lock for abras).
  2. Cons: Tier 5 pokemon, Hard to train, poor stats, Can't be used on any real battle with these moves.

Train a Smeargle to hunt pokemons

Since Smeargle is a pokemon that can learn any move of the game is the perfect candidate when capturing Pokemons but since the only way to teach moves in PWO is by fighting wild Pokemons, is not an option viable. This guide teach moves to Smeagle with a safe way.

After we get these pokemons we delete all other move via Playerdex

  • After this, we go in search of a wild Ditto ,recommend search on Cerulean Cave, and wait to "Transform" becoming just the desired pokemon and then switch to Smeargle and use "sketch". This process must be repeated four times to complete a Smeargle with all movements. (Optional: Use a pokemon with good speed to quickly switch to the desired pokemon and so avoid unwanted fights)
  • Reminder: Smeargle can only learn a "Sketch" at once, so level up after learning every move. Finally we have our perfect Pokemon Hunter
