Squirtle is one of six possible starters that a player may choose from when leaving Starters Island. To obtain a Squirtle as a starter Pokémon, it is necessary to start off in the Kanto region. Squirtle is a Water-type starter. The three stages of Squirtle's evolution is Squirtle -> Wartortle -> to Blastoise. At level 16, Squirtle evolves into Wartortle, which then evolves into Blastoise at level 36. With a base experience value of 66, Bulbasaur is tied for the lowest base experience between any of the starters (with Totodile).
Squirtle is super effective against Pewter Gym Leader, Brock, but balanced against Misty, the Cerulean Gym Leader.
