Technical Machines, colloquially referred to as TMs for short, are used to teach techniques to some Pokémon, which may not be acquirable by any other method. Currently, only five TM moves have been made available in the game; all sold in Department Stores. The Pokémon you want to teach the TM move to should be in the first slot of your party, while using the TM from your inventory.

Warning: TMs are only good for a one-time usability, and they will deplete if you even prompt a Pokémon to learn it. This means that, due to an interactional bug with the client, TMs are used up after you select it on a Pokémon - even if you end up declining on the move-learn-up prompt.
