Solutions
Solution A: Virtual Machine (Easy)
- Install Virtual Machine software
- Install VM Additions
- Install PWO, fixes if necessary
Solution B: Boot Camp (Easy)
- Go to Applications -> Utilities. Open up the Boot Camp Assistant.
- Click Continue. It may ask to download Windows support software for your Mac. If so, click Continue and it will prompt for your password. Enter it in, and let the software download. When done, copy the files to a flash drive or burn them to a disc.
- Adjust the partition size of the Windows drive to your liking. Here are some guidelines for you to follow:
* An XP install will typically take up 2 GBs.
* A 7 install will typically take up 6 GBs.
* You should leave about 15 GBs free for you to install stuff. - Click Partition when done.
- Insert your Windows install disc into the optical drive and click Start Installation.
- Install Windows normally. Don't know how? Find a guide off Google.
WARNING: When asked to choose a partition, choose the one labeled BOOTCAMP. If you don't, you will lose your OS X installation!
Go have a break. Make a sandwich, have some coffee. It may take a while to install Windows.
- Windows Installation done? Okay. Time to install drivers.
If you burned the software to a CD/DVD: Eject the Windows disc from (My) Computer and insert the disc or the flash drive. Run the installer, and the drivers will be installed.
If you were not prompted to download software: Eject your Windows install disc from (My) Computer. Then, insert your Mac OS X install disc and run the installer.
Restart your Mac. - Download and install the DirectX 9.0c runtime.
- Download and install PWO from the Playerdex. Login.
- You're now playing PWO on a Mac!
Note: To switch operating systems, hold Option
when turning on your computer. You will see a menu similar to this, where you can pick between Mac OS X and Windows:

Solution C: Wine (Medium-Hard)
This solution was tested with OS X Mavericks (10.9). Your results may vary.
A topic on the forums recommends using Wine, which is essentially a Windows simulator, but you don't need to have a Windows install disc or even a Windows license.
- Download and install Wine Bottler.
- Download and install PWO from the Playerdex. Wine Bottler will create a .app for you.
- Open the .app that you created. Login.
- You're now playing PWO on a Mac!
