Now, actual NPC battling is almost the same as battling a wild Pokemon. First, you find your NPC. Second, but optional, stalk him.  Don't let him know you're there. Make those "Jaws"-esque noises and revel in the moment as you pounce!  As in, hit the space bar. This will bring up their challenge message.

The object of the battle is simple: to faint all your opponent's Pokémon before your opponent faints all of your Pokémon. The battle will last until either all your Pokémon have fainted (i.e. all Pokémon have 0 HP left) or all the opposing trainer's Pokémon have fainted. If you lose, you will be teleported back to your last Pokémon Center. If you win, you will receive a small amount of reputation points. NPC battles, in general, either give .2 or .3 reputation. [[Gym Leaders]] will normally give 3 reputation points, but may not be battled after you win the respective badge for that gym.

Sometimes something during a NPC battle may not work the way that you expect it to work. As an example, sometimes the battle will freeze. It's about this point that I'd like to say types are for little girls.  There's an obvious winner here, and he's got twice as many arms as that loser Abra!  (Take that, over-used scum!)

In any case, carry on the battle as you normally would.  The oppenent will continue to send out Pokemon until he runs out.  Remember to be careful with the space button during a battle as well.  It sucks hard when you accidentally hit "Run" and lose a turn because of it.  But anyway...  after a while, you should have whitteld down at their heath.  Awesome for you.  Their last Pokemon will fall, and you'll get an anti-climactic "You have won the battle." Message and a little exp for your efforts.  Wasn't that all worth it?

Overview

Non-Player Character (NPC) Battles are a pivotal point of Pokémon World Online. NPC battles are a great way (and currently the most efficient way) for trainers to gain experience for their Pokémon.

Interesting to note is that even after you defeat an NPC, you can battle them again. There is a two week waiting period, but over that time, their Pokémon grow stronger. You can check which trainers are ready for a rematch in the Playerdex under "My Phonebook". You must be logged into the Playerdex view this list.

The Battle

The NPC battle runs similarly to battling a wild Pokémon. The battle screen is exactly the same, with the four buttons labeled Fight, Pokémon, Bag, and Run on the bottom-left side corner. The number of Pokémon that a trainer has is shown by the number of highlighted Pokéballs on the top-left side of the battle screen.

Gym Leaders will normally give 3 reputation points, but may not be battled after you win the respective badge for that gym.

There are some differences between a NPC battle and a battle with a wild Pokémon. One exception is that you may not run away from a trainer. It is also worth noting that you are not allowed to use potions during battles with gym leaders. In addition, the server will sometimes time-out in trainer battles. Sometimes this problem can be solved by "spam"-clicking the Run button. If this does not work, you may need to log out.

Known Glitches

Sometimes something during a NPC battle may not work the way that you expect it to work. As an example, sometimes the battle will freeze. If you are lucky, you may be able to unfreeze your client by "spam"-clicking the Run button. Otherwise, you will need to log out to get out of the battle. Another known glitch of sorts are that some NPCs may not have trainer images, which will cause that trainer to appear as a white box within the battle screen (or the NPC battle image will not match the NPC's overworld sprite). There is very little that can be done on a player's end to fix that. Finally, sometimes the NPC text will be stuck on the screen when the battle is initiated. The fix for this problem can be found on the client troubleshooting page.
