Ilex Forest is located between Goldenrod City and Azalea Town together with Route 34. This forest is full of Bug and Grass-type Pokémon, and has a small water area where Water type pokemon can be found.
Ilex Forest Quest are also available for players to start in this location, which gives you reward based on what region you started upon completion the quest.

Politoed Has a chance to drop King's Rock if caught and a better chance if fainted.
Ilex Forest Quest is required to be complete if you are a Johto Starter. It's an optional quest for Kanto Starters.

The Manager NPC inside PokéMart have a quest for you, to recover stolen merchandise (dropped by wild Sentret at Route 29) from the store. For every 3 he will reward you a Pokéball.
Whenever special events are occurring, the Event Transport NPC will take you to the event map. Once the event is finished, NPC will no longer transport you there until next event is going on.
